DAYTON, Ohio – With its fast-paced offense, four Flyers scored in double figures to lead the University of Dayton women's basketball team to a 101-60 exhibition victory over Gannon Tuesday at UD Arena.
Junior Justine Raterman scored a game-high 21 points, sophomore Olivia Applewhite added a career-high 16 points, senior Kristin Daugherty had 12 points and redshirt sophomore Brittany Wilson added 10 points.
In all, 12 UD players reached the scoring column. Sophomores Kari Daugherty and Sam MacKay each contributed eight points. Junior Elle Queen had a solid stat line of seven points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Senior Aundrea Lindsey and junior Patrice Lalor each had five assists and six points, while MacKay and Queen added four helpers each.
Dayton out-rebounded the Knights 53-34 paced by Applewhite and Queen with seven apiece. UD also had 13 steals compared to Gannon's two thefts. Wilson and Queen each had three to lead the Flyers.
Dayton led 50-30 at the half. UD shot 48.6 percent from the field, while holding Gannon to 38.1 percent. The Knights were 37-1 last year and advanced to the Final Four of the NCAA D II Championship.
The Flyers, ranked or receiving votes in three preseason polls, host Penn State in their season opener Friday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. at UD Arena.
UD is receiving 67 votes in the AP Poll, coming in at No. 28. Dayton is No. 10 in the SLAM magazine preseason ranking and No. 22 in Lindy’s.
