FLYERS FALL 68-34 TO CINCINNATI

Box Score

CINCINNATI
– Juwan Staten tallied nine points and four assists as the University of Dayton Flyers scored the fewest points in 62 years falling 68-34 to the Cincinnati Bearcats.

Josh Benson added six points and nine rebounds as Dayton dropped to 5-1 overall.

It was a difficult night offensively for UD. Dayton shot just 12-of-60 from the field (.200) and sank two attempts from beyond the arc.

The 34 points scored in a game were fewest by the Flyers since Feb. 7, 1948 when Dayton beat Detroit 34-28. The 34-point defeat tied for the 11th worst in UD’s modern era (since 1947).

However, Staten is the sixth different Flyer to lead the team in scoring this season.

Dayton trailed 42-19 in the first half. Cincinnati shot 52 percent from the field and connected on 5-of-11 shots from beyond the arc. Meanwhile, UD had nine turnovers and connected on just 23 percent of its field goal attempts.

The struggles continued after halftime as Cincinnati opened play on a 13-0 run and never looked back. Dayton’s 15 second half points were also tied for the third-fewest in the program’s history.

Devin Oliver came off the bench to add eight rebounds for the Flyers. Josh Parker scored five points and Chris Wright added four points and six rebounds.

One area the Flyers kept pace with the Bearcats was in rebounding. Cincinnati held a slim 44-40 advantage on the glass, but Dayton corralled 16 offensive boards.

Dayton returns home on Wednesday, Dec. 1 to face the East Tennessee State Buccaneers at 7 p.m. ET.
