FLYERS SEEK BERTH IN ATLANTIC 10 TOURNAMENT

DAYTON, Ohio
– The University of Dayton men’s soccer team (7-6-3, 3-2-2 A-10) will make another push for a bid into the Atlantic 10 Tournament as they conclude the regular season against Fordham and La Salle this weekend.

Dayton is in 10th, but only one game out of a playoff spot. In addition they open the weekend with Fordham who sits one point ahead of them in the standings, and finish the weekend against La Salle who is up two points on the Flyers.

UD fell to the Xavier Musketeers in their lone match last weekend. Junior Jack Pearson scored his second goal of the season on the assist from defender Tommy Watkins.

Watkins leads the team with eight points (3 G, 2 A). Goalkeeper Tyler Picard has eight shutouts on the season.

On Tuesday, Watkins was selected alongside teammates Nate Dombrowski and Michael Deyhle, to the CoSIDA/ESPN Academic All-District IV First Team. It is the third consecutive time that Watkins has been named to the team and Deyhle and Dombrowski’s first.

Dayton and Fordham clash on Friday at 7:00 p.m. ET in the Bronx. The Rams are 9-7 and 4-3 in the conference, but hold a 5-1 record at home.

John McHugh and Tim Richardson both have nine points for Fordham. McHugh has four goals and one assist, while Richardson has three goals and three assists.

Starting goalkeeper Ryan Meara has five blank sheets on the season and has a .79 goals against average. The Flyers are 10-3 all-time against Fordham.

Dayton closes out the regular season on Sunday, Nov. 7 against La Salle at 1:00 p.m.. The Explorers are 6-6-3 this season and 4-2-1 in the conference.

Ryan Richter is tied for 26th nationally averaging 1.47 points per game (22 pts. total). He leads the Explorers in points.

Goalkeeper John McCarthy has made 12 starts this season and has a 1.23 goals against average. He also has five shutouts. Dayton is 11-6 all-time against La Salle.

Should the Flyers advance to the Atlantic 10 Tournament, the first match of the tournament will be played on Thursday, Nov. 11 beginning at 5:30 ET.
