Official USTFCCCA Release

DAYTON, Ohio – The University of Dayton men’s cross country team had a great 2009 season, both on the course and in the classroom, and on Mon., March 8 the program was rewarded for its effort as a United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches’ Association Academic All-American Team.

Creighton and Vanderbilt led the nation with a 3.67 GPA mark, but the Flyers were tied with DePaul and Charleston Southern for the fourth-highest cumulative team GPA in the country amongst 135 programs that qualified for the honor.

Athletically, the Flyers also excelled as the team and placed third overall at the Atlantic 10 Championships – the highest team finish in Flyer men’s cross country history. Dayton junior Chris Lemon also captured the individual title at the fall conference meet in St. Louis, MO.
