DAYTON, Ohio - In their first home event of the spring season, the University of Dayton Flyers got strong performances from their Varsity 8 and Second Varsity 8 in a dual meet against the Drake Bulldogs.

UD’s Varsity 8 cruised to a 13 second victory over Drake’s boat coming in with a time of 6:11.8.

In the Second Varsity 8 heat, the Flyers ousted Drake 6:29.4 – 6:36.2 to give UD its second win of the meet.

Dayton’s Novice 4 also put forth a strong showing dominating their heat with a time of 7:25.4 compared to the Bulldogs’ 8:16.6 time.

UD’s Freshman/Novice 8 came close to giving the Flyers their fourth win falling just short with a time of 6:27.9. Drake’s Novice 8 had a time of 6:24.5.

Drake’s Varsity 4 won their heat over UD with a time of 6:43.0. Dayton’s Varsity 4 came in at 6:57.9.

In the final heat, Drake’s Second Varsity 4 came in at 6:57.3 to Dayton’s 7:05.0.

The Flyers head to Indianapolis for their next event on April 2 and 3 as UD will participate in the Dale England Cup hosted by Indiana University. The event will be televised nationally on the Big Ten Network.
