DAYTON, Ohio – The University of Dayton men’s soccer team will host the Kentucky Wildcats on Monday night in its final tuneup before the regular season begins on Sept. 1 against Cincinnati. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. at Baujan Field.
The Flyers fell 2-0 to Butler in their first exhibition match. Dayton outshot Butler 6-3 while playing under modified time rules during the scrimmage.
The Wildcats will debut their 2010 squad in the first of three exhibition matches for them. Last season Kentucky posted 13 wins on the year with a 5-3 record in Conference USA action. They return leading scorer and All-Conference USA selection Matt Lodge who notched six goals and two assists as a freshman. UK lost seniors Barry Rice, Jason Griffiths and Dan Williams from last year’s team.
The Flyers won last year’s exhibition match against the Wildcats 2-1. Alex Torda notched both goals for UD in the win.
After Dayton’s season-opener against the Cincinnati Bearcats, the Flyers will open their home slate against IPFW in the Dayton Marriott Classic on Sept. 3 at 8:00 p.m. ET at Baujan Field. Admission is free to all regular season home games.
