PHILADELPHIA
– Earlier in the week, head coach Brian Gregory spoke about how this is the most resilient team he has ever coached at the University of Dayton.

Once again, the Dayton Flyers displayed those tough traits in a big road victory.

Chris Wright recorded 27 points, 21 of which were in the second half, and a career-high six blocks as the Flyers defeated the La Salle Explorers 85-81.

Wright finished 11-of-22 from the field and created several highlight reel dunks. He also added six rebounds and went 5-of-6 at the foul line.

The senior captain also continued to rewrite the record books. Wright's six blocks tied a UD single-game record and he moved into the Top 20 all-time leading scorers.

The victory snapped a three-game road losing streak for Dayton and improved the Flyers to 17-7 overall and 5-4 in the Atlantic 10.

Chris Johnson scored in double figures for the 15th time in his last 16 games after pouring in 12 points for the Flyers. Josh Parker added 12 points and five rebounds off the bench.

Juwan Staten finished with six points and five assists and Josh Benson continued his strong play of late with nine points and six rebounds.

It was the eighth time this season the Flyers won after trailing at halftime. UD used a 21-4 run against the Explorers to open the second half to pull away early after trailing 38-35 at halftime.

Dayton also improved to 14-0 this season when leading with five minutes remaining in regulation.

UD shot 45 percent from the field and hit 6-of-15 attempts from beyond the arc. Where Dayton improved offensively was scoring 20 points off of 14 La Salle turnovers.

Dayton concludes its two-game road trip on Wednesday, Feb. 9 against the Rhode Island Rams beginning at 7 p.m. ET.
