Annual Alumni Match Set For April 10

DAYTON, Ohio – University of Dayton volleyball released a spring schedule on Thursday which features two home events at the Frericks Center and contests against three teams that completed in the 2010 NCAA Tournament.

Head Coach Kelly Sheffield and the Flyers begin the spring season at the 2011 Coaches Clinic, hosted by the University of Kentucky on March 26. Dayton will scrimmage Kentucky to cap off the clinic with a live interactive offensive and defensive coaching situation session narrated by Sheffield and UK Head Coach Craig Skinner. Dayton returns home to the Frericks Center for the remainder of the spring season – the site of back-to-back undefeated home regular seasons. UD will scrimmage with Miami University and welcome back past lettermen for the annual Alumni Match on Sunday, April 10. Round-robin matches between the three squads begin at 10:30 a.m., capped off with the Alumni Match at 2 p.m.

The spring season concludes with three of the top volleyball programs in the state of Ohio competing in the UD Spring Tournament on Saturday, April 16. Dayton, Ohio State, and Ohio will play in round-robin format beginning at 10 a.m. All three teams advanced to at least the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2010.

Admission to the home matches this spring at the Frericks Center is free and open to the public.

The Flyers began team practice on Tuesday with seven players returning from the 2010 Atlantic 10 Championship squad.
