SCHIELE BREAKS UD STEEPLECHASE RECORD AT MIAMI INVITE

OXFORD, Ohio – Two Flyers scored in distance events and four set personal best times for the University of Dayton men’s team at the Miami Track and Field Invitational Saturday in Oxford, Ohio.

Sophomore Jeremy Schiele led the way, taking third place in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. He finished in a time of 9:22.01 setting the team record, lowering his own mark by three seconds. Sophomore Nate Addessi was 11th in 9:47.91 and freshman Tyler Roeth set a personal best time in the same event, finishing in 9:48.48 for 12th place.

Senior Chris Lemon placed sixth in the 5,000 meter run in a time of 14:59.

Sophomore Stephen Mackell, who placed ninth in 15:10.40, and sophomore Derek Bornhorst both set personal bests in 5,000 meters. Freshman Eric Gruenbacher finished 14th in 15:22.90 in the same event.

Sophomore Kyle Lowry and freshman Nick Fry set personal bests in the 1,500 meters.

University of Dayton men’s cross country closes out its spring season at the All-Ohio Championships in Cincinnati, Ohio this Friday, April 15 starting at 5 p.m. and Saturday, April 16 at 2 p.m.
