WOMEN?S SOCCER SWEEPS SPRING SCHEDULE

DAYTON, Ohio – The University of Dayton women’s soccer team completed a sweep of its spring competition with a 2-0 win against the BIG EAST’s Cincinnati Bearcats and a 1-0 win over the Central Michigan Chippewas.

Last year’s Atlantic 10 leader in shutouts and goals against average, Dayton went the entire spring without allowing a goal against. The Flyers outscored their opponents by a 7-0 margin, with each win coming at Baujan Field.

“Both games were very competitive and against two tough opponents. It is extremely pleasing to see the team progress during the spring season and to get good quality results in the process,” Dayton Head Coach Mike Tucker said. “We were able to move some players around to different positions and we feel as if we have a pretty good idea about what our strengths and weaknesses are going into the upcoming fall season.”

Sophomore All-American Colleen Williams tallied a goal against Cincinnati. Juliana Libertin also netted a goal for UD in the game.

Libertin scored the lone goal of the game against the Chips. She was assisted on the goal by Williams.

“We are very excited about the positive things that we have seen from our players and we are very much looking forward to what the Fall season will bring. The future continues to look bright,” Tucker said.

After summer recess, Dayton will host Michigan in a friendly at Baujan Field on Aug. 12 at 2 p.m.
