Six University of Dayton women’s soccer players were named to the 2011 Academic All-Ohio Teams. UD’s six selections were the most of any program. Toledo was the next closest with four players chosen.
Senior defender Kathleen Beljan (Hilliard, Ohio), junior forward Colleen Williams (Titusville, N.J.) and sophomore midfielder Juliana Libertin (Uniontown, Ohio) were named Academic All-Ohio Division I First Team honorees.
Senior defenders Emily Kenyon (Canton, Ohio) and Kelsey Miller (Barrington, Ill.), along with sophomore midfielder Sarah Senoyuit (Perkasie, Pa.), earned Academic All-Ohio Division I Second Team accolades.
Beljan is a chemical engineering major and holds a 3.49 GPA. She was named to the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Top 10. Williams carries a 3.33 GPA in sport management. Beljan and Williams were also recently named to the 2011 NSCAA Women’s College Scholar All-America Team. Williams was first team and Beljan a second team selection.
Libertin is an exercise science major with a 3.72 GPA.
Kenyon is a chemical engineering major with a 3.65 GPA, while Miller is a pre-medicine major with a 3.33 GPA. Senoyuit is a psychology major with a 3.96 GPA.
Beljan, Kenyon, Libertin and Williams were all named to the 11-person Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team.
Beljan and Williams earned NSCAA First Team Scholar All-Region honors, while six Flyers earned CoSIDA Academic All-District recognition: Beljan and Williams (first team), Kenyon (second team), and Josie Grant, Megan Scharer and Senoyuit (third team). Beljan was also a CoSIDA Third Team Academic All-American.
10 Flyers earned Dean’s List honors following the 2011 Fall semester.
The Flyers captured their third consecutive A-10 Tournament Championship this season and third straight NCAA Tournament berth. Dayton finished the season with a 19-4-0 record and No. 27 in the final NCAA RPI.
