NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Dayton’s Andrea Hoover was named the Atlantic 10 Conference Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week,  the league office announced Monday. She was honored for games played during the week of Jan. 23-29.
 
Hoover scored a career-high 22 points, equaled her career high with eight rebounds and sank a career-high eight (8-of-8) free throws in Dayton’s 74-56 road win over George Washington. It’s the third time she has led the Flyers in scoring this season.

She also had six rebounds and five points, including UD’s final free throw of the game to make it a three-point difference, in Dayton’s 81-78 overtime win over Richmond.

The award marks Hoover’s third citation of the season, as she was previously named Rookie of the Week on Jan. 2 and Jan. 16. Temple’s Shey Peddy was named the A-10 Player of the Week

The Flyers play at Xavier this Sunday, Feb. 5 at 11 a.m. in a nationally-televised game on ESPNU.
