DAYTON TENNIS COACH RYAN MEYER ANNOUNCES 2012 FALL RECRUITING CLASS

University of Dayton men’s and women’s tennis coach Randy Meyer announced the signing of two players to letters of intent. They are 5-foot-10 Andy Druffel from Nashville, Tennessee and 5-foot-9 Mandy Marchant from Chagrin Falls, Ohio.

Druffel has been ranked as high as the 10th best recruit coming out of Tennessee, according to the United States Tennis Association (USTA). The three-star recruit was the first player from Pope John Paul II High School to qualify for the state tournament after posting a 35-4 singles record.

His work both inside the classroom and out in the community has been just as impressive as his work on the court. Druffel sports a 3.83 high school G.P.A. and has registered 160 volunteer hours at Special Olympic Tennis and Habitat for Humanity.

Marchant has qualified for the state tournament in all three of her seasons at Kenston High School. The two-star recruit is ranked by the USTA as the 13th best Northeastern Ohio Girls singles player. The future Flyer was selected to the 2011 and 2012 Girls 18 Marian Wood District Cup Team, and won every match she played for the team in 2011.

Her sister, Victoria, is a sophomore on the team.  Together, Mandy and Victoria placed third in the state tournament as a doubles team in 2010.

She has the best grade-point average in her class with a 4.25, and plans on majoring in pre-law.
