MARIETTA, Ohio - For their second race of the spring season the University of Dayton rowing team took on Marietta College, Duquesne University and North Park University at Marietta College on Saturday (March 24) on the Muskingum River. The Flyers raced a V8+, 2V8+, 3V8+ and V4+.
The Flyers won the morning heats against Duquesne in the varsity 8+ and second varsity 8+ to advance to the Grand Finals against Marietta.
The Dayton V8+ beat Duquesne (6:07.44) with a time of 5:54.1. The 2V8+ followed suit and finished with a time of 6:01.67 to beat Duquesne (6:05.44).
The 3V8+ beat the Dukes (6:39.30) by finishing with a time of 6:15.21. The V4+ for Dayton finished first in 6:55.41, edging Marietta who took second in 6:57.34, and Duquesne who finished third with a time of 6:57.88.
Dayton’s V8+ took first place in the finals with a time of 5:56.12 to down Marietta (6:03.89).
The Flyer’s 2V8+ beat Marietta (6:22.93) in the Grand Final as well with a time of 6:12.11.
In the end, the Flyers were victorious in the six races they competed in.
Dayton returns to action on April 6-7 in Buffalo, N.Y. where they will take on Buffalo, Colgate, and Eastern Michigan.
