The Dayton Flyers look repeat as Varsity 8 champions as UD heads to the 2012 Atlantic 10 Women’s Rowing Championship.
The 17th annual A-10 Women’s Rowing Championship will take place on the Cooper River in Pennsauken, N.J., on Saturday, May 5.
The 2012 Championship begins at 8 a.m. ET with trials of the Varsity 8, Second Varsity 8 and Varsity 4 events on the Cooper River. Finals will commence at approximately 11:20 a.m. ET with the awards ceremony scheduled for 1:40 p.m. ET.
At last season's championship, the University of Dayton’s Varsity 8 boat won the Grand Final at the Atlantic 10 Women’s Rowing Championship for the first time in the program's history.
Dayton set an Atlantic 10 Championship record winning the event by 12.25 seconds, eclipsing the previous mark of 12.0 seconds. The Flyers finished with a time of 7:52.20.
Flyer Head Coach
Michael Wenker was honored as the A-10 Coach of the Year, while Sadie Wonders was a First Team All-Atlantic 10 selection and Katherine Bruening and Kristin Dormish were named Second Team All-Atlantic 10.
