NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Three Dayton Flyers, Michele Baeder, Katherine Bruening and Sadie Wonders were named to the 2012 Atlantic 10 Rowing All-Academic team.
This is the fourth time in the previous five years Dayton has placed multiple rowers on the A-10 Rowing All-Academic team.
For Bruening, this is the third consecutive season she has been named to the A-10 All-Academic team. This is Baeder's second straight all-academic team selection and the first for Wonders.
Bruening, a Beachwood, Ohio native, graduated from UD with a 3.77 GPA with a pre-medicine degree. She is a two-time Atlantic 10 All-Conference selection and has been rowing with the Varsity 8 the previous three seasons. Bruening is also a two-time member of the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Scholar-Athlete list.
Baeder had a 3.8 grade point average and graduated with a degree in pre-physical therapy. The Dublin, Ohio native is also a two-year member of the CRCA Scholar-Athlete list.
Wonders is a two-time Atlantic 10 All-Conference selection. The Bronson, Mich., native was a First Team selection in 2011 and earned a Second Team spot in 2012. Wonders is an Accounting major, a three-year member of the Varsity 8.
Dayton and Rhode Island led all schools with three student-athletes each to the 2012 academic team.
The voting was conducted among the conference's sports information directors. To be eligible, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average and be an important part of the team.
