EVAN MCCREARY NAMED OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK BY COLLEGE SPORTS MADNESS

DAYTON, Ohio – Senior Evan McCreary was named National Offensive Player of the Week by College Sports Madness.

McCreary had two goals in UD’s home-opening win against Ohio State. McCreary is second on the team with two goals.

He was also picked by College Sports Madness as the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week.

McCreary joins senior Daniel Berko in receiving acclaim for their opening weekend performances. Earlier on Monday, Berko earned a spot on College Soccer News’ National Team of the Week. He was also the A-10 Player of the Week after scoring a hat trick in UD’s 4-3 win over Kentucky on Sunday.

The men’s soccer team went 2-0 on the weekend, which is the best start since 2008 when UD went on to capture the A-10 Tournament Championship and advance to the NCAA Tournament.

It was also one of the best starts that the University of Dayton has had across the board in all of its sports. Men’s and women’s soccer and volleyball went 7-0 on the weekend with three wins over nationally-ranked programs. Five UD student-athletes received weekly honors from the Atlantic 10. Also, Dayton student-athletes received four national accolades from the weekend.

Dayton (2-0) travels to Charleston, S.C. for the Nike / Aaron Olitsky Memorial Classic. They face Furman on Friday, Aug. 31 at 5 p.m. and tournament host College of Charleston at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 2.
