Match Notes
DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton volleyball team will be on the road again this weekend for two more Atlantic 10 matches away from home. The Flyers will take on Fordham Friday evening at Rose Hill Gym in Bronx, N.Y., with first serve set for 7 p.m. On Saturday, UD will travel to Kingston, R.I., for a 7 p.m. match-up against Rhode Island at Keaney Gym.
ABOUT THE FLYERS
Dayton (7-9, 1-3 A-10) split its matches over the weekend, beating La Salle 3-0 and falling to VCU, 3-1. Averaging 2.82 blocks/set, Dayton currently leads the Atlantic 10 and ranks 13th nationally in that category. Sophomore
Jill Loiars posted a career-high 14 kills in the loss against VCU while senior
Shayne Brown tallied 14 kills in the win against La Salle, posting a season high.
Senior
Megan Campbell is the team's offensive leader, averaging 2.68 kills/set while hitting at a .314 clip (7th A-10). Sophomore
Jenna Jendryk is the squad's floor general, setting 8.97 assists per set (7th A-10), and sophomore
Janna Krafka is averaging 4.48 digs/set (t-2nd A-10) as the team's leading passer. At the net, three Flyers are averaging more than one block per set, including Campbell with 1.23 (3rd A-10).
SCOUTING FORDHAM
Fordham (8-11, 1-2 A-10) enters the game on a two-game losing streak and has lost five of its last six matches. The Rams went to five sets with regional rival Stony Brook this past Tuesday, dropping a 3-2 decision to the Seawolves. In its lone Atlantic 10 match of the week, FOR faltered, 3-1, to Duquesne on Oct. 5. As a team, the Rams are ranked second in the A-10 in service aces, averaging 1.38 aces per set.
Maria Rodenberg is a large part of Fordham's serving success. She is averaging 0.41 aces per set, placing her first in the A-10. Lindsay Ritchie is hitting at .336 (4th A-10) while Sara Konkel is averaging 9.87 assists per set (3rd A-10).
SCOUTING RHODE ISLAND
Rhode Island (9-9, 2-2 A-10) is also on a two-game slide heading into the weekend. The Rams dropped two A-10 games in a row after opening league plays with back-to-back wins. Rhode Island fell to Duquesne, 3-1, then lost in a close five-set match to George Washington. The Rams are first in the A-10 in kills per set (13.41) and in digs per set (15.92).
Callan Kinnan leads both Rhode Island and the A-10 in assists per set with 10.60. Franki Darnold is benefiting from Kinnan's setting ability as she is racking up 3.98 kills per set (3rd A-10).

THREE-HEADED MONSTER
Currently three Flyers are both hitting above .300 and averaging more than 1.00 block/set. Senior
Megan Campbell leads the team with 2.68 kills/set and is hitting at a .314 (153-37-369) average while also tallying 1.23 blocks/set while sophomore
Angel Agu holds a .338 (35-9-77) hitting percentage and records 1.07 blocks per frame. Junior
Isolde Hannan hits at .302 (73-24-162) while ranking second on the team with 1.09 blocks/set.
Campbell already holds two of Dayton's top five single-season hitting percentages (.412 2nd, 2011; .398 5th, 2012). Her career hitting percentage of .373 currently ranks third all-time in program history.
BATTLING THE BEST
Five of Dayton's eight losses this season were against teams that are were ranked or receiving votes in the AVCA Top 25 Coaches Poll. The Flyers defeated Saint Mary's (Calif.), 3-2, when the Gaels were receiving votes in the national poll earlier this season.
DON'T HIT ON US
In the Flyers' five-set thriller over Saint Mary's (Calif.) on Sept. 14, the team set a new program record for blocks in a match with 22.5 total team blocks. Also a new school record was the 41 assisted blocks the Flyers' tallied in the 3-2 win over the Gaels. Sophomore
Angel Agu recorded a career-high 10 blocks in the contest while senior
Megan Campbell added nine. Sophomore
Jenna Jendryk narrowly missed the elusive triple-double with her career-high 48 assists, 12 digs and nine blocks as well.
