NO. 5-SEED FLYERS HOST NO. 4-SEED LA SALLE IN A10 CHAMPIONSHIPS

DAYTON, Ohio
- The University of Dayton men's soccer team will play against La Salle in the opening round of the 2013 Atlantic 10 men's soccer championships at Baujan Field on Thursday, Nov. 14 at 8 p.m.

There will be a scarf promotion for the Atlantic 10 Tournament this weekend with fans attending three games receiving a free scarf courtesy of the A10. Punch cards will be given out at the gate.

THE LAST TIME OUT
The Flyers picked up a pair of 3-0 wins over Massachusetts on Friday and Rhode Island on Sunday to clinch a berth in the A10 Tournament. Over the two game stretch, Greg Enstone had three goals and an assist while goalkeeper Chris Froschauer recorded two shutouts between the posts.

ABOUT THE EXPLORERS
La Salle is under the direction of one of the most veteran coaches in the country in 27th-year head coach Pat Farrell. This season, Farrell guided the Explorers to an 8-7-3 record in the regular season. La Salle finished the year with wins at Fordham and George Washington.

In 2013, the Explorers were 4th in the A10 in goals, 3rd in assists, and 1st in saves. Midfielder Jason Plumhoff is an All-Conference candidate, ranking 1st in the league in points (29), goals (10), and assists (9).

La Salle is 3-6 all-time in the A10 Tournament and has not won a title since joining the league in 1995.

THE LAST MEETING
On Nov. 3 this season, Dayton went to La Salle and left with a 3-2 double overtime victory on Andres Acevedo's game-winner in the 105th minute of the contest. The Explorers took an early 2-0 lead just 20 minutes into the contest before the Flyers stormed back with goals by Enstone, John Howe, and Acevedo.

AGAINST COMMON OPPONENTS
This season in games against George Washington, Duquesne, St. Bonaventure, and Fordham, Dayton went 1-1-2. La Salle on the otherhand had a perfect 4-0 record against these common opponents.

CONFERENCE STATISTICAL RANKINGS
Dayton leads the Atlantic 10 in assists per game (1.83), points per game (6.28), scoring offense (2.22), total assists (34), total goals (40), total points (114), save percentage (.816) and winning percentage (.833). Individually, Abe Keller is first in the A10 in assists per game (0.50), sixth in goals per game (0.39), second in points per game (1.28), and first in total assists (9). Greg Enstone ranks second in the league in goals per game (0.50), total goals (9), and is third in total points (20). Chris Froschauer is also No. 3 in goals against average (0.743) and save percentage (0.816).

NATIONAL RECOGNITION
Earlier this season, Dayton was ranked in the NSCAA poll multiple times. The Flyers dropped out of the rankings, but reached as high as No. 18 nationally. They were also ranked in a number of other polls including Soccer America and Top Drawer Soccer.

DAYTON AT THE A10 CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Flyers last won the Atlantic 10 Championship title in 2008. They went on to win the regular season title in 2009. Other A10 Tournament titles came in 1997 and 1998. Dayton's all-time record in the A10 Tournament is 9-5-4.

AMANKONA - ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Dayton junior Amass Amankona picked up his first award of the season after being named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week on Sept. 30. The Ghana native scored two goals in UD's win over Loyola Chicago.

RACKING UP THE AWARDS
Dayton had four players recognized on Sept. 23 for their accomplishments on the field. Sophomore Ryan Peterson was named Player of the Week by the Atlantic 10 while redshirt freshman Rafael Gamboa was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week. Senior Abe Keller was named to the Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week as well. College Sports Madness named sophomore Maik Schoonderwoerd Player of the Week also.

OFF TO A FAST START
Dayton jumped out to a 10-0 record at the start of the 2013 season and outscored opponents 28-7 on the year through the first 10 games. That marks the best start in school history.

HAUPT'S CONTRIBUTION
Flyer freshman James Haupt earned Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors on Sept. 16 after scoring the game-winning goal for Dayton against Detroit. That goal also clinched a share of the MSU Tournament title.

SECOND STRAIGHT TITLE
Dayton competed in its second tournament on Sept. 13 and 15, and picked up its second straight tournament championship by winning a share of the Missouri State Tournament title with wins over Western Ilinois (2-0) and Detroit (1-0).

MSU ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM
The Flyers had four players named to the all-tournament team in Missouri after winning the tournament championship. Sophomore Chris Froschauer and junior Amass Amankona were recognized for their efforts while seniors Jonathan Nelson and Abe Keller were named to the team as well.

LENNING FOR MVP
Sophomore defender Christopher Lenning was named Dayton Flyer Classic MVP after leading the defense to a pair of wins.

FLYER CLASSIC ALL-TOURNAMENT
Dayton had four players named to the All-Tournament team after the Dayton Flyer Classic. Senior Abe Keller scored three goals in two games to earn honors while sophomore Maik Schoonderwoerd, junior Amass Amankona, and sophomore Christopher Lenning received accolades as well.

RED JERSEY
Senior midfielder Eddie Jones earned the teams' Red Jersey. An award presented to the best performer in the preseason for UD. Players accumulate points in games, practices and team challenges.

SHAPING THE PROGRAM
UD men's soccer had 16 newcomers at this point in the season last year. The 2013 is different as the Flyers benefit from the experience of nine seniors and three graduate students.

WINNINGEST COACH
Head Coach Dennis Currier became UD's winningest soccer coach in 2011 recording win number 66, surpassing former head coach Roy Craig who had 65 wins from 1988-1995. In addition, Currier's wins came in 130 games, which was 31 games less than Craig. Currier holds a .712 lifetime winning percentage with a combined record of 281-103-35.

PRESEASON PREP
Dayton faced a pair of quality opponents in the preseason after tying the University of Kentucky 0-0 in the opener and defeating Eastern Illinois 2-1. To wrap up the preseason, the Flyers held their annual Red and White intersquad scrimmage the following Sunday  in which the Red team came out on top 5-2. Sophomore Maik Schoonderwoerd scored a pair of goals in the scrimmage for the Reds.

PRESEASON ACCOLADES
The Flyers had a trio of players recognized by preseason All-Atlantic 10 team lists. Senior Abe Keller was named First Team All-A-10 in the College Sports Madness poll with sophomore goalkeeper Chris Froschauer earning second team honors in that same release. Freshman forward James Haupt was named to the All-Rookie team by the A-10 and was tabbed the Freshman of the Year by CSM as well.

ACROSS THE GLOBE
This year's Flyer squad features 10 international players. Dayton has student-athletes from Canada, England, France, Germany, Ghana, Netherlands, Jamica, Costa Rica, Sweden and Switzerland.
