Men's Soccer Facing No. 22 Saint Louis In A-10 Final Sunday

Third-Consecutive and 10th Overall Appearance in the Title Match for the Flyers

ST. LOUIS - The third-seeded University of Dayton men's soccer team is set to compete in the program's third-consecutive Atlantic 10 Championship final match Sunday against top-seeded Saint Louis. The Flyers and Billikens will square off Nov. 16 at SLU's Hermann Field with the action getting underway just after 1 p.m. ET/12 p.m. CT.

ABOUT DAYTON
Dayton (8-2-7) is making the program's 24th overall appearance in the A-10 Championship and its third-consecutive trip to the A-10 Final match. As a team, the Flyers lead the A-10 in goal differential (16 - 33rd NCAA), save % (.811 - 15th NCAA) and shots/game (15.12 - 24th NCAA). Senior Ethan Sassine and junior Martin Bakken have netted eight goals apiece (1st A-10) while sophomore Andrew Armstrong has tallied five assists (4th A-10). Senior keeper Gavin Krenecki has worked 1,440 minutes in goal and carries a 0.625 GAA (10th NCAA) and .844 save % (8th NCAA).

SCOUTING NO. 22 SAINT LOUIS
No. 22 Saint Louis (10-2-6), the A-10 regular season winners and #1 seed for the championship, returns to the A-10 Final contest in 2025 - a rematch between UD and SLU from a year ago. 2025 A-10 Goalkeeper of the Year Jeremi Abonnel has played every minute in goal and posted 10 shutouts for the Billikens. On offense, SLU has had 10 different goal scorers this season led by Theo Franca (4) while Carlos Leatherman has handed off three assists.

SERIES STUFF
Saint Louis Leads, 20-9-6
Dayton and Saint Louis squared off on Oct. 4, also in St. Louis, with the match resulting in a 0-0 draw - one of nine shutouts for the Flyer defense this season. In last year's A-10 final, UD claimed the program's sixth tourney title with a 3-0 win over visiting SLU. Then-sophomore Felix Buabeng scored two goals for the Flyers.

LAST TIME OUT
For its semifinal match, third-seeded Dayton traveled to the Big Apple to take on No. 2 Fordham in the Bronx on Nov. 12. The Flyers were able to advanced to their third-consecutive appearance in the Atlantic 10 Championship title match with a 2-1 win over the Rams. Sophomore Dren Dobruna scored the game winner for UD in the 75th minute, his first goal as a Flyer.

RPI RANKINGS
In the NCAA's most recent DI Rating Percentage Index (RPI) through games on Nov. 15, Dayton ranked 98th according to NCAA.com. Saint Louis came in at 23.

FLYER FACTS
• Dennis Currier is in his 21st season as head coach of the Flyers in 2025. His record at Dayton is 202-125-68 (.597) and his career win-loss mark sits at 390-174-80 (.668) over a total of 33 seasons. Currier has tallied the program's most wins (202) and most winning seasons (14).
• On Sept. 15, Farouq Ogundare picked up his first career Atlantic 10 weekly award after being named the league's Rookie of the Week. Following the first week of the season, three Flyers were recognized by the A-10. Ethan Sassine was named Co-Offensive Player of the Week, Gavin Krenecki garnered Defensive Player of the Week accolades and Mikkel Madsen secured the Rookie of the Week honor on Aug. 25.
• Five Flyers were named to the 2025 Atlantic 10 Preseason All-Conference Team: Andrew Armstrong, Martin Bakken, Miles Bonham, Ethan Sassine and Paul Yeboah.
• Dayton has won the Atlantic 10 Regular Season title four times (1998, 2000, 2009, 2020). The Flyers have captured the A-10 Championship title six times (1997, 1998, 2008, 2015, 2023, 2024) resulting in six appearances in the NCAA Tournament. Over 24 appearances in the A-10 Tournament, UD has tallied a 25-11-5 record in the conference postseason championship, reaching the title match 10 times (including 2025).
• The Flyers finished the 2024 season with a 14-3-3 overall record and a 5-1-2 conference mark, finishing in second place in regular-season play. The #5 Flyers advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament, falling to #12 SMU, 3-1.

UP NEXT
With a win, Dayton will earn the conference's automatic berth into the 2025 NCAA Tournament. The Championship bracket will be announced on Monday, Nov. 17.
