Flyers Take On Providence Wednesday In Noon Start

The University of Dayton women's basketball team travels to Providence, R.I. to take on the Friars in a noon tip off this Wednesday, Dec. 18. The Flyers snapped a three-game losing streak with an 87-76 win over Washington State Sunday. Dayton has a 3-4 record going into the game vs. the Friars. The game will be available via a free audio stream with Shane White on the call at DaytonFlyers.com through the A-10 Digital Network.

>> Three of Dayton's four losses this season have come on buzzer beaters or in overtime. In all three, UD held a lead in the final minute of regulation.
>>  Junior guard Andrea Hoover was named to the 2013-14 Naismith Trophy early-season, 50-player watch list for women's basketball.Hoover is the only representative from the Atlantic 10 to be named to early-season watch list.
>> Dayton went unbeaten at home last season, and improved its home court winning streak to 16 with its win over Washington State Dec. 15. Their streak is currently the seventh-best in the nation. However, UD is 0-4 in road games this season.
>>  All five of Dayton's starters average double figure scoring.
>>  The Flyers are 16th in the nation in scoring offense and 13th in assists per game. They are averaging 85.0 ppg and 19.1 apg, both of which are the best in the Atlantic 10. Cassie Sant is 19th in NCAA and first in A-10 in FG% (61.0).
>>  There are 10 spots remaining for the Dayton bus trip to Toledo on Dec. 22. The cost is $30 per person. The bus will leave at 10 a.m. and return at approximately 7 p.m. at UD Arena. Contact Tyler Barchek at tbarchek1@udayton.edu

This game between the Flyers and Providence will be the first ever meeting. 

SCOUTING PROVIDENCE
The Friars are 4-4 on the season and have lost three consecutive games. Providence has not played since its 83-78 loss to Duquesne on Dec. 5. The Friars are 2-1 in home games this season, the only loss at Alumni Hall/Mullaney Gymnasium was to Albany, a 70-60 setback on Nov. 27. The Friars are led by junior guard Tori Rule who averages 20.0 ppg. Junior forward Alexis Harris adds 13.8 ppg and leads the Friars on the boards with 8.0 rpg. 

SEVENTH ANNUAL PROJECT PROVIDENCE
The Friars will host their seventh Annual Project Providence event on December 18, and approximately 1,500 elementary and middle-school students are expected to attend.  The long-standing initiative features a morning session for participants to discuss the importance of fitness, good health and education. The students also participate in a variety of fun exercises and basketball drills. After lunch, the students are admitted to the game.

HAPPY RETURNS FOR JABIR AND GREEN
Jim Jabir returns to Providence College for the first time, having previously served as the Friars' head coach from 1996-2002.  Additionally, current Dayton Assistant Coach Shauna Green, spent five seasons on the sidelines at Providence as an assistant coach from 2007-2012.

UP NEXT
The Flyers play at Toledo on Sunday, Dec. 22 before returning back home for a rematch against Central Michigan on Monday, Dec. 30. The Central Michigan game will be Dayton's Camper Day.
