DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton men's soccer team remained undefeated in its spring campaign with a 2-0 win over Cincinnati at Baujan Field on Saturday.
The Flyers opened up the game by controlling the first half and pressed the Bearcats into their half of the field the majority of the time. Dayton had numerous scoring chances.
Senior Eddie Jones opened up the scoring with a nice goal on the assist from junior Andres Acevedo.
Junior Abe Keller followed shortly after with a goal of his own to give Dayton a 2-0 lead. Jones assisted on the goal as well.
Dayton led 2-0 after the first 20 minutes of the game and held on in the second half. Cincinnati pushed back in the last 45 minutes, but the Flyer defense played strong once again.
Head coach Dennis Currier talked about his team's performance after the game.
"The team played fantastic in the first half and we pressed UC very well,"Â said Currier. "Our possession rate was very strong and our wide players kept him under pressure with their relentless work rate. We had a very strong rhythm going. In the second half, we did not deal with UC's five-man midfield as well and poor decision making resulted in too many dispossessions. The back four though did well limiting their chances and earning another shut-out."
Dayton will next play on April 6 when it hosts Bradley at 11 a.m. at Baujan Field.
