CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Senior Matt Buse shot a one over par 73 to lead the Dayton Flyers in the first round of the 2013 Atlantic 10 Men’s Golf Championship.
Buse extended his streak of rounds in the 70s to nine after he closed the round with back-to-back birdies on 17 and 18. He had three birdies on the day and was one-under par on the back nine.
Sophomore Craig Purpus put together a strong round with a two-over 74. Purpus had birdies on nine and 16.
Senior Brenten Blakeman was next with a 75 in round one. He was one-under par through the first nine holes of play.
Senior Sean Keating fired a 76 in round one. Keating was one-over through the first 16 holes of play, but had a bogey on 17 and a double bogey on 18 to close the round.
Sophomore Thomas Goss rounded out the scoring with an 80.
Dayton is in a tie for ninth overall after shooting a 298 in round one. The Flyers are 19 strokes back of the lead.
The second round will begin at 7:30 a.m. ET on Saturday, April 27.
