Day One Results
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The University of Dayton women's track and field team is in first place after the first day of competition at the 2013 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track and Field Championship hosted by Charlotte.
"We had a great start to the meet today highlighted by two school records," commented head coach Jason Francis. "IÂ am looking forward to more big performances tomorrow and hopefully seeing more school records set."
Junior Nicole Cargill's personal-best time of 10:35.10 in the 3,000 Steeplechase was good for second place overall and a new Dayton program record. Junior Lizzie Gleason crossed right behind Cargill with another personal-best time of 10:35.48 and freshman Olivia Albers placed eighth (10:59.13) in the same event.
Junior Noelle Taziolli qualified in third place in the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.19 as did junior Jada Henderson with her eighth-best time of 24.83. Sophomore Ellie Grandi took second place in the women's high jump while sophomores Katy Garcia and Rebecca Maj tied for fourth place.
UD's junior Katrina Steinhauser and sophomore Hanna Krizmanic finished first and second in the pole vault. In the discus throw senior Christine Borchers took fourth place overall with her best throw of 45.89m and senior Renee Otte also placed fourth in the hammer throw (50.96m) and sophomore MIranda Nelson took sixth with a hammer throw of 49.27m. Otte also took sixth in the javelin throw (36.98m).
Due to impending inclement weather, Day Two of the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track & Field Championships will operate on a rolling schedule. The Decathlon and Heptathlon events will begin 15 minutes earlier than previously scheduled. Further updates will be posted on Atlantic10.com.
