FLYERS TIE KENTUCKY IN EXHIBITION GAME TUESDAY

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Dayton faced off against the University of Kentucky in the first competitive match of the season on Tuesday and the contest ended in a 0-0 tie after 90 minutes of fast-paced action.

The Flyers and Wildcats battled back and forth early on with neither team able to add to the score sheet in the first half.

Dayton out-shot Kentucky through the first 45 minutes, but was still unable to capitalize on its attempts.

Fouls were shared by both sides as the teams tried to settle in defensively.

Coming out of the halftime break, the Flyers were looking to make some adjustments both offensively and in the back. Facing a tough road contest against a Top 40 opponent, Dayton was looking to hold strong defensively and take advantage of any UK mistakes.

In the end, neither team was able to pull away and the game ended in a 0-0 tie. Dayton out-shot the Wildcats overall 10-7 and committed two fewer fouls. The Flyers also dominated in the corner kick total 8-1.

Sophomore Chris Froschauer finished the game with two saves in goal, while senior Eddie Jones had four shots to lead Dayton.

The Flyers will continue their preseason this Saturday when they travel to Eastern Illinois for a 5 p.m. contest.
