DAYTON, Ohio. – The University of Dayton men's and women's tennis teams opened up their 2014 Spring season this past weekend as the men faced Kentucky and the women hosted Akron. The Flyers lost in both match ups but have a bright future ahead of them under the direction of head coach Ryan Meyer and assistant Lindsey Lonergan.
The men faced nationally ranked No. 9 Kentucky as they were downed by the Wildcats 7-0. "Opening the season against the No.9 team in the country was a big challenge, but our men's team played very well for the most part," coach Ryan Meyer said. "We played two top 100 players and won four games off both of them, and a lot of the games we lost were close."
Junior Aidan Koross and Freshman Bernardo Sanson gave last year's All-Americans Tom Jomby and Kevin Lai of UK a run for their money with a close No.1 doubles match.
