THE SERIESThe Flyers and Patriots have only ever met one time before this weekend, way back in 1990 with UD falling in overtime, 3-1. SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
GEORGE MASONThe reigning A-10 Champion and NCAA participant Patriots, who are receiving votes in both the NSCAA and Top Drawer Soccer polls, are 7-2-2 this season and 0-1-0 in Atlantic 10 games. George Mason lost to VCU 3-0 in its only conference match up to date. The Patriots will be looking for their first A-10 win of the season when they come to Baujan this Friday. Head Coach Greg Andrulis is another 10th-year coach, who has guided GMU to three NCAA appearances in his tenure.
Through 11 games this year, the Patriots rank sixth in the nation in save percentage (.880), eighth in shutout percentage (0.64), and 13th in goals against average (0.52). Sophomore goalkeeper Steffen Kraus is also one of the top shot-stoppers in the A-10 with a .875 save percentage, which leads the league. Mason is holding opponents to 0.55 goals per game while scoring 1.64.
LAST OUTINGDayton opened up Atlantic 10 play with a 2-0 win over No. 19 Davidson this past weekend at Baujan Field. Goals by

Ryan Peterson, and
Daniel Spencer each recorded their first assist of the season.
George Mason suffered a tough 1-0 defeat to No. 14 Virginia Tuesday at home. The Patriots gave up a goal in the 56th minute and dropped just their second loss of the 2014 campaign.
TOUGH SLATEThe Flyers have a challenging schedule in 2014, having already played teams that are currently in the Top 25 and more coming up this season. The Flyers have two student athletes from England, three from Ghana, one from Costa Rica, one from Jamaica, one from Canada, and one from the Netherlands, totaling nine international players. This is coming off the 2013 season in which the Flyers had 11 players from overseas.
FANTASTIC FRESHMENDayton's squad is young as far as age is concerned with 15 freshmen making up the team. The Flyers do have faith in this class though as it is made up of an NSCAA All-American, eight US Soccer Academy participants, and a U16 USSDA National Champion. Two other players are also four-star rated recruits. The Dayton coaching staff will not be shy in letting these freshmen get on the field.
