Tournament CentralDAYTON, Ohio - University of Dayton volleyball closed out the 2014 regular season with two wins at home over La Salle and Duquesne, capping a 10-match winning streak. The Flyers claimed the Atlantic 10 Regular Season Title (11th) and the No. 1 overall seed for the A-10 Championship - after its first-round bye, Dayton will play the winner of Rhode Island vs. VCU on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. at UD's Frericks Center. Scouting Rhode IslandRhode Island (18-9, 9-5 A-10) earned the championship's fourth seed and closed out the regular season winning three of its last four matches. The Rams have previously won three A-10 Championship titles and hold a 21-19 record all-time in championship matches. URI is led by Franki Darnold with 4.14 kills/set and Layne Self with 1.20 blocks/set.
Scouting VCUVCU (16-12, 9-5 A-10) earned the fifth seed of the Atlantic 10 Championship with its sweep of Davidson on Senior Day, Nov. 15. The Rams have a 2-2 mark in championship play after joining the league for the 2012 season and played in the 2013 tournament finals, falling 3-1 to Duquesne. VCU is led offensively by Kalah Jones with 3.28 kills/set and 1.23 blocks/set while Rebekah Strange is the team's leading passer with 3.15 digs/set.
Series Stuff• Dayton and Rhode Island have previously met 39 times with the Flyers holding the 29-10 advantage in the series. UD and URI last squared off on Oct. 19 of this season with the Flyers sweeping the Rams in straight sets at Frericks Center. Dayton has won 22 of the last 23 meetings between the two squads.
• The series between Dayton and VCU dates back to the 2010 season with a 3-0 win by the Flyers at home. UD holds the 4-2 advantage over VCU, including two wins over the Rams this season.

Tim Horsmon is in his sixth season overall, but first since 2007, as head coach of the Flyers in 2014. His record at Dayton is 154-48 and his overall win-loss mark sits at 330-212 in 16 seasons as a head coach.
• The Flyers have won 19 of their last 20 contests, 12 of which were in three straight sets. UD is currently enjoying a 10-match win streak, the team's second longest of the season.

Alaina Turner, the 2014 Atlantic 10 Player of the Year, leads the A-10 while ranking fourth nationally with 0.55 service aces/set. She also leads the league and ranks 19th nationally with 5.03 points/set. Additionally, Turner ranks in the top 25 nationally in four other categories, including fourth in service aces (61) and 12th in total attacks (1,306).

Isolde Hannan, 2014 A-10 First Team, leads the team, ranks second in the league and 22nd nationally with a .396 hitting percentage and her 127 total blocks this season is 49th nationally. Freshman

• With 179 team service aces, Dayton ranks 12th nationally out of 150 teams ranked by the NCAA. The team also ranks 17th with 1.61 aces/set, 19th with 288.5 total blocks and 32nd with 2.6 blocks/set.
• Dayton has won the Atlantic 10 Regular Season title 11 times (2014, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2001, 1998). The Flyers have won the A-10 Championship title eight times (2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2007, 2005, 2004, 2003) and have made nine NCAA appearances in program history.
• Over the last six seasons (2009-2014), the Flyers have recorded a 78-9 mark in Atlantic 10 Conference play, including a perfect 14-0 mark in 2012 and a 15-0 record in 2010. UD suffered only one conference loss in 2014, 2011 and 2009.
Atlantic 10 Coach, Player, Libero and Setter of the Year ...The Flyers claimed four of the five yearly awards given out by the Atlantic 10 as announced by the league office on Nov. 20:

Jane Emmenecker - Setter of the Year. This is the first end-of-the-year award for each student-athlete and the second time coach Horsmon (2005) has been recognized.

This is Hannan's and Krafka's third year-end honor as Hannan earned mention on the 2013 All-Academic Team and 2011 All-Rookie squad while Krafka was named to the 2013 Honorable Mention and 2012 All-Rookie teams. Additionally, Emmenecker was voted to the All-Rookie team along with fellow freshman
Amber Erhahon. Year-end awards were decided by voting of league coaches.
RPI RankingsDayton heads into this weekend's tournament holding a RPI (Rating Percentage Index) ranking of 77, up 17 spots from last week, according to ncaa.com. Rhode Island is behind Dayton, coming in at 157, and VCU is right in front UD at 72.
13th to 1,000With two wins at the season-opening Bowling Green Hampton Inn Invitational, Dayton has surpassed the 1,000-win mark as a program and is just the 13th NCAA DI team to attain that level of success. The Flyers currently rank 13th all-time in the Division I record book with an overall program tally of 1,024-556 (.648) over 44 seasons (1970).

Janna Krafka has also passed 1,000 ... career digs. With her 33 digs at the BGSU Hampton Inn Invitational, she reached the 1,000-dig mark for her career. With 1,454 career digs, Krafka now ranks third all-time in the UD career record book. She is 221 digs behind Paige Vargas (2009-12) who currently ranks second with 1,675 career digs.
Emmenecker Setting Her Way into the UD Record BookFreshman setter
Jane Emmenecker passed the 1,000-assist mark during the Flyers' match against Saint Louis on Oct. 25. She averages 11.12 assists/set (1st A-10, 28th NCAA) and has a total of 1,234 assists so far this season. With 1,461 assists in 2006, former Flyer All-American Erin Schroeder holds the fifth-most single-season assists total - Emmenecker needs 227 more assists to break into the UD record book.

Amber Erhahon are two tough blockers to get past. Hannan is averaging 1.20 blocks/set and Erhahon averages 1.14 blocks/set which ranks fifth and sixth, respectively, in Atlantic 10 individual standings.

Isolde Hannan is moving up the Dayton career assisted blocks list as the top blocker for the Flyers this season. Hannan has rocketed up the UD record book this season and currently ranks third all-time with 457 block assists. So far this season, she has recorded a team-best 113 BAs and is averaging 1.20 total blocks/set (14 solo blocks). Hannan has now recorded at least 100 assisted blocks in all four seasons she has been a Flyer.
Turn Down for WhatAs the team's kills leader, junior
Alaina Turner consistently produces offensively for the Flyers. She ranks second in the Atlantic 10 and 43rd nationally with 4.14 kills/set. Turner also pops up in several other categories in the NCAA National Ranking Summary: fourth in service aces (61) and aces/set (0.55), 12th in total attacks (1,306), 19th in points/set (5.03) and 22nd in attacks/set (11.7) and total kills (459).
Consistently AccurateThe team's hitting percentage has improved considerably since the beginning of the season and the Flyers currently rank second in the Atlantic 10, hitting at a .253 clip. In other league rankings,, Dayton is first in opponent hitting percentage (.163) and digs/set (15.70), second in assists/set (12.86), kills/set (13.77), blocks/set (2.60) and third in service aces/set (1.61).
Turner, Emmenecker Claim Last Weekly Awards of the SeasonJunior
Alaina Turner was voted as the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week and freshman
Jane Emmenecker claimed her fourth Rookie of the Week nod Monday, Nov. 17 as announced by the conference office. Turner averaged 5.29 kills per set and 2.71 digs per set over the weekend in two wins for the Flyers. She also averaged 5.64 points per set and hit at .395. Emmenecker averaged 11.43 assists/set, including a career-high 53 assists Sunday against Duquesne.
