MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Bucks have signed University of Dayton alum Chris Wright to a 10-day contract.
Wright joins fellow Flyer alumni Brian Roberts (New Orleans Pelicans) and Chris Johnson (Boston Celtics) in the NBA.
The last time the Flyers had three alumni playing in the NBA was during the 1985-86 season with Jim Paxson, Sedric Toney and Johnny Davis.
Wright, who graduated from the University of Dayton in May 2011, had one of the best four years in Flyer basketball history. The greatest above-the-rim player to ever wear the Red & Blue, Wright is the school career record holder in dunks (177) and blocked shots (162). He is only the third UD player to be named All-Atlantic 10 Conference three times.
A local high school star from Trotwood-Madison High School, Wright finished his UD career 15th all-time in scoring with 1,601 points in 123 career games. He also finished 10th in career rebounds with 886, and hauled in 298 career offensive rebounds, which places him third in school history.
Wright joins the Bucks from the D-League's Maine Red Claws, where he's appeared in 38 games this season and posted averages of 19.5 points (ranks 13th in D-League) and 8.1 rebounds per contest. He's notched 13 double-doubles on the year, including six in his last eight appearances.
Wright also played for the Red Claws during the 2012-13 season, when he average 18.1 points and 8.9 rebounds per game, and has been named to the D-League All-Star Game in both of his seasons in Maine.
Wright is the 33rd GATORADE Call-Up of the 2013-14 season from the NBA D-League. He will wear No. 15 for the Bucks.
