RICHMOND, Va. – No. 24 University of Dayton women's basketball (22-6) survived its quarterfinal matchup with a 62-61 come-from-behind victory over No. 8 seed VCU (22-9) Friday at the 2014 Atlantic 10 Championship at the Richmond Coliseum.

Amber Deane led to a fast break layup for freshman
Celeste Edwards with six seconds left in the game to give UD its first lead, 62-60 – and one that it would hang on to – since 19:25 in the first half when Dayton led 2-0 to start the game.
VCU had a chance to tie it with three seconds left but Keira Robinson missed the second of two free throws. Deane grabbed the defensive rebound, ensuring the Flyer win.
The Rams led by as many as 18 points in the first half, and held a 36-24 lead at the half, UD's largest deficit it has had at halftime this season.
Junior
Ally Malott led Dayton with 19 points and 10 rebounds, her ninth this season and 13th of her career. Junior
Andrea Hoover added 15 points and a game-high five assists despite early foul trouble (she picked up her fourth foul with 12:02 left in the game).Â
Edwards also scored in double figures, putting up 12 points to go along with six rebounds, three assists and no turnovers.Â
Robyn Parks paced VCU with 19 points and 16 rebounds.Â
Dayton had 36 points in the paint, compared to just 20 for VCU.Â
The Flyers face No. 4-seed George Washington in the semifinal game. The game tips off  at 11 a.m. this Saturday, March 8 and will be nationally-televised on CBS Sports Network with Ed Cohen and Julianne Viani on the call.
