PHILADELPHIA – The University of Dayton women's rowing team concluded its 2014 spring season at the Dad Vail Regatta this weekend.

Friday, the Dayton V8+ took second in its heat to advance to the semifinals Saturday. UD was just seconds from making the grand final with its third place finish in a time of 6:58.465. In the petite final, Dayton was edged by UConn for third place. The Huskies turned in a time of 6:49.971, while the Flyers had a time of 6:49.978 in the photo finish.  The V8+ boat was: Caitlin Ferris (coxswain), Allie Rogers, Katelyn Reynolds, Allison Martie, Erin Mohney, McKay Rehwinkel, Emma Tokar, Kayla Contardi and Haley Murrell.

The Flyers finished fifth in the JV Heavyweight Eight in a time of 7:04.147 on Friday. The 2V8+ boat was Jennifer Biggers, Mary Willard, Katy Speed, Meghan Casey, Susie Klimowicz, Grace Hagan, Rachel Hock, Rosie Perez and Alex Anain.

The Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta is the largest collegiate regatta in the United States, with over 100 colleges and Universities from the U.S. and Canada. Thousands of student athletes gather to compete during the weekend of the second Saturday of May.  The race was held on the east bank of the Schuylkill River just northwest of Center City Philadelphia. 

The race was the final race as a Dayton Flyer for seniors: Klimowicz, Murrell, Rehwinkel and Reynolds.
