PHILADELPHIA – The University of Dayton women's rowing team will close out the 2014 spring season at the Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta this weekend in Philadelphia. The Regatta dates back to 1934.
"Dad Vails is an exciting event for our team. The competition is fast," said UD Head Coach Mike Wenker. "The team had a quick turn around from competing at A-10 Championships, but they are healthy and ready for these races. The Varsity 8 keeps going faster every practice. I'm excited to see how these races turn out."
The Flyers will race Friday, May 9 and Saturday, May 10. The Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta takes place on Philadelphia's Schuylkill River about five miles northwest of Center City and two miles north of boathouse row.
The Varsity 8+ competes at 11:13 a.m. Friday in Heat 6 vs. Haverford, Pittsburgh, Saint Joseph's and Colgate.
The JV 8+ will compete in its heat at 4:50 p.m. vs. Saint Joseph's, Bucknell, Temple, Fairfield and Pittsburgh.
The Saturday afternoon finals will be televised from 1-5 p.m. in the Philadelphia region and live streamed worldwide on 6abc.com and ESPN3.
