Tournament Draw
DAYTON, Ohio. – The University of Dayton men's tennis team opened their 2014 fall schedule at the Northern Kentucky Invitational this past weekend. The Flyer's faced tough competition but Head Coach Ryan Meyer is pleased with his team's performance noting that "the men did very well this weekend."

In Flight Three of the singles competition, freshman Zach Berry from Springboro, Ohio grabbed his very first collegiate victory. Berry defeated Martin Muadi of IPFW {7-5, 6-1} to take the championship title.

"We looked very good in doubles action," noted Coach Meyer "especially the team of Colin Bernier and Simon Jayaram."

In Flight Two doubles, Bernier and Jayaram defeated Carlos do Val and Tom Sizeland in the semifinals 8-1 to advance to the finals. In the finals, they defeated Adrian Isache and Jack Carney from Northern Kentucky 8-2.  In Flight One doubles, Carsten Fisher and Josh Malyon put up a hard fought battle. With two early victories in the quarter finals and semifinals, Fisher and Malyon advanced to the finals where they faced Armand Levandi and Erik Aunapuu of Lewis. Levandi and Aunapuu edged the Flyers duo 8-7 (7-1) leaving them to finish respectively in second place.

Overall, Head Coach Ryan Meyer was pleased with the teams showing and confident that they will have an even better showing next weekend.  The men will continue their fall debut at the Indiana Hoosiers Fall Tournament. Competition will begin on Friday, September 19th and continue through Sunday, September 21st.
