LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Dayton women's track and field team competed in their second meet of the season at the Kentucky Invite Saturday.
The Flyers had a strong day overall against a loaded field full of quality programs.
"We competed well against some tough competition today," said Head Coach
Jason Francis. "The women were able to learn and gain valuable experience that will benefit us as we move through the season."
Rebecca Maj finished fifth in the high jump with a height of 1.65m, a season-best for the senior.
Freshman
Erin Reese led the way for Dayton in the shot put event with a distance of 13.62m, earning her 14
th overall out of 39 competitors. Senior
Miranda Nelson also competed and hit a mark of 13.20m.
The one mile run was a loaded field for the Flyers with five student athletes competing. Junior
Mickey Ludlow led the way with a 17
th-place finish, recording a time of 5:20.52 and setting a new personal best. Senior
Megan Collins was just behind her in 18
th with a time of 5:22.52. Senior
Mary List, sophomore
Kathleen Keene, and freshman
Nicole Steinbicker also had strong showings for Dayton in the event.
In the pole vault, senior
Ashley DeMange finished 12
th overall.
The 800m event saw four more Flyers compete as senior
Chelsea VanHook had a team-best 11
th-place finish with a time of 2:18.58. Freshman
Brittany Fisher followed her in 13
th with a time of 2:19.70 while sophomore
Maggie Pryslak, who set a personal best, and freshman
Claire Attea posted Top 40 times.
The Flyers had a pair of runners in the 3000m as freshman
Emily Leonard finished 15
th with a strong time of 10:27.46 and senior
Katie Ollier took 18
th.
Dayton finished off the day with the 4x400m relay event. The "A" squad finished 16
th on the day.
The Flyers return to action next Friday at the Tom Wright Classic hosted by Bowling Green.
