DAYTON TO HOST EASTERN KENTUCKY TUESDAY AT FRERICKS CENTER

First of Four Matches this Week for the Flyers

DAYTON, Ohio - Dayton volleyball (17-5, 9-0 A-10) is coming off a 3-1 win over Saint Louis Saturday afternoon in a battle of the top two teams in the Atlantic 10. The victory extended the Flyers' winning streak to 15 matches, besting the team's 14-match winning streak in 2014. The Flyers' Alaina Turner leads the team with 4.36 kills/set (1st A-10) and 0.42 service aces (2nd A-10) while sophomore Jane Emmenecker is the squad's primary setter with 10.77 assists/set (3rd A-10) and sophomore Amber Erhahon holds a .375 hitting percentage (1st A-10). At the net, Erhahon dominates as well with 1.23 blocks/set (2nd A-10) and senior Janna Krafka is the team's leading passer with 3.99 digs/set (3rd A-10).

About Eastern Kentucky
After starting Ohio Valley Conference play 2-4, Eastern Kentucky (7-18, 6-4 OVC) has now won four consecutive matches over the last two weekends. The Colonels have played some very familiar teams this season, including defending national champion Penn State and top-25-ranked Colorado State. EKU is led offensively by Celina Sanks with 2.71 kills/set and Johanna Boyer is the team's leading setter with 5.18 assists/set. Defensively, the Colonels' Ciera Koons records 0.80 blocks/set and Chloe Rojas passes 3.96 digs/set.

Series Stuff
The all-time series between Dayton and Eastern Kentucky is nearly even with the Flyers holding a slim 11-9 advantage. The two squads first squared off on Oct. 30, 1971 with UD picking up a 2-1 win over EKU in Richmond, Ky. The Flyers have won the last two and five of the last six meetings.

RPI Rankings
Dayton heads into Saturday's match holding a Rating Percentage Index (RPI) ranking of 35 according to ncaa.com. Eastern Kentucky comes in with a RPI of 240.

• Tim Horsmon is in his seventh season overall, and second since 2007, as head coach of the Flyers in 2015. His record at Dayton is 175-54 and his career win-loss mark sits at 351-218 in 17 seasons as a head coach.
• With 14.16 kills/set as a team, Dayton leads the Atlantic 10. The Flyers also lead the A-10 in hitting percentage (.277), opponent hitting percentage (.176) and assists/set (13.07) and rank second in digs/set (14.19) and third with 1.48 service aces/set and 2.25 blocks/set.
• Individually, senior Alaina Turner ranks first in the A-10 with 4.36 kills/set while sophomore Amber Erhahon ranks first with a .375 hitting percentage. Also among the top 10 in the league are: Turner, 0.42 aces/set (2nd); Erhahon, 1.23 blocks/set (2nd); sophomore Jane Emmenecker, 10.77 assists/set (3rd); senior Janna Krafka, 3.99 digs/set (3rd); senior Jenna Jendryk, .333 hitting percentage (7th); Krafka, 0.30 aces/set (10th).
• Over the last seven seasons (2009-2015), the Flyers have recorded an 87-9 mark in Atlantic 10 Conference play, including a perfect 14-0 mark in 2012 and a 15-0 record in 2010. UD suffered only one conference loss in 2014, 2011 and 2009.
• For the 2015 season, Dayton returns the 2014 Atlantic 10 Player of the Year in senior Alaina Turner, the A-10 Setter of the Year in sophomore Jane Emmenecker and the A-10 Libero of the Year in senior Janna Krafka.
• The Flyers finished the 2014 season with a 30-6 overall record and a 13-1 Atlantic 10 mark, finishing in first place in regular-season league play. 2014 was the program's third 30-win season of the modern-DI era.
• Dayton has won the Atlantic 10 Regular Season title 11 times (2014, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2001, 1998). The Flyers have won the A-10 Championship title a league-record nine times (2014, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2007, 2005, 2004, 2003) and made their 10th NCAA appearance in program history in 2014.

Moving up the Ranks
With 1,349 career kills, senior Alaina Turner is moving up the ranks in UD's record book. She's just 152 kills away from usurping former Flyer All-American Rachel Krabacher who currently holds the number-five slot with 1,500 kills. Currently in second place on the all-time career digs list (1,875), senior Janna Krafka is only 196 digs away from become Dayton's new career digs record holder, replacing Adrienne Green (2,070).

13th to 1,000
With two wins at the 2014 Bowling Green Hampton Inn Invitational, Dayton surpassed the 1,000-win mark as a program and is just the 13th NCAA DI team to attain that level of success. The Flyers currently rank 13th all-time in the Division I record book with an overall program tally of 1,045-562 (.650) over 46 seasons (1970).

UD Picked First in 2015 A-10 Preseason Poll
Dayton has been chosen to finish in first place in the Atlantic 10 for 2015. The Flyers, winners of five of the last six A-10 titles, tallied 88 points in voting among the league's head coaches (including eight of 10 first-place votes). George Washington was selected to finish second.

The Flyers are set to embark on a three-match road swing this weekend with a trip to the northeast. On Friday, Dayton will square off against Rhode Island at 7 p.m. at URI's Keaney Gym followed by a 7 p.m. match-up with Fordham at Rose Hill Gym in the Bronx. On Sunday, Dayton will be in New Jersey for an out-of-conference match at Seton Hall. First serve is set for 3 p.m. at SHU's Walsh Gymnasium.
