DAYTON WOMEN’S BASKETBALL DEFEATS GANNON, 109-67

DAYTON, Ohio – The University of Dayton women's basketball team defeated Gannon University Friday night in an exhibition game, 109-67.

The Flyers and Gannon squared off in the first action of the season for either team with Dayton defending its home court in front of 1,064 Flyer Faithful.

GAME BREAKDOWN
• The Flyers built an early lead in the first half thanks to 17 forced turnovers, then slowly built a double-digit lead thanks to 50 points in the paint in a 109-67 victory over Gannon Friday.
• Gannon struggled against Dayton's superior size, which resulted in 10 steals and six blocked shots by the Flyers. Gannon countered shooting 47.8% from three, which was good enough to put them behind 27-19 after the first quarter. But, it was not enough to keep up with the Flyers' 50 points in the paint, which gave the Flyers a 53-32 lead at half.
• The Flyers' fast pace put the game away in the second half, with 29 fast break points. A balanced scoring attack with all eleven Flyers entering the scoring column gave Dayton over 100 points in the contest, stifling any comeback Gannon could mount. • The Flyers are now 112-11 when scoring 70 points or more in the last seven seasons.
