MASON, Ohio – The University of Dayton men's tennis team blanked La Salle, 4-0, on Thursday to move the quarterfinals of the 2015 Atlantic 10 Men's Tennis Championship at the Lindner Family Tennis Center.
Dayton took the doubles point courtesy of wins from
Aidan Koross and
Simon Jayaram (8-2), and
Bernardo Sanson and
Josh Malyon (8-1).
In singles, three freshmen won their matches to clinch the victory. Jayaram won 6-1, 6-0, Carsten Fischer won 6-2, 6-0 and
Zach Berry won 6-2, 6-3. For Berry, it was his 25th singles point of the year, one off the UD single-season mark held by Tom Murphy.
The Flyers led in all matches being played when the win was declared.
UD is now 11-8 in dual matches.
Dayton, the tournament's fifth seed, will play four seed George Washington Friday at 10:00 a.m. ET.
