Full ScheduleDAYTON, Ohio – The University of Dayton men's soccer team released its 2015 schedule.
"We are confident that for the second straight year we will be competing against a schedule that enables us to receive an at-large bid to the NCAA National Tournament if we can earn enough victories," said Head Coach
Dennis Currier.
The Flyers will play 18 regular season games including eight home games and eight Atlantic 10 games. Dayton will also compete in one tournament and host two exhibition contests.
The preseason begins on Aug. 15 at Baujan Field with West Virginia and will wrap-up in Dayton on Aug. 23 against Butler.
"Last year, we used both exhibitions to try and answer many new questions with the loss of a large senior class," Currier stated. "This year, we will use the exhibitions to get sharp before the first competition. These games will mimic the tough competition we will face during the season."
UD will kick-off the regular season on the road at the James Madison Tournament in Harrisonburg, Va. on Friday, Aug. 28 against the host Dukes. The Flyers then finish the tournament against Radford in a neutral site contest on Sunday.
Sept. 2 will then see Dayton's first home game of the regular season when the Flyers welcome Cleveland state on that Wednesday. UD is then quickly back out on the road for games at Marquette on the 7
th and High Point on the 10
th.
The Flyers continue the non-conference stretch with home games against Oakland (Sept. 12), Northern Kentucky (Sept. 18) and a road game at Western Michigan (Sept. 20).
On Saturday, Sept. 26
th, Dayton will head just up the road to in-state foe Ohio State as the Flyers look to continue their winning streak against the Buckeyes. A home contest on Sept. 29 against Belmont finishes the month of September and the non-conference slate for UD.
Dayton will open up A-10 play on the road at Duquesne (Oct. 3) and Saint Louis (Oct. 7). The Flyers host Saint Joseph's in their first home conference match on Oct. 10 before returning to the road for an away game at George Mason (Oct. 14).
In the final four games of the regular season, Dayton will play three of them at the friendly confines of Baujan Field, hosting La Salle (Oct. 17), Massachusetts, (Oct. 24), and VCU (Nov. 7) in the season finale. Prior to that final game, the Flyers make a weekend trip to Fordham on Oct. 31.
The 2015 Atlantic 10 Championship Tournament will take place Nov. 12-15 at George Mason.
"The A-10 is still one of the most difficult conferences to qualify for the postseason tournament even though we have increased to eight teams," Coach Currier continued. "It is critical to win your home games in order to take the pressure off the team on the road. It is also important to get a good start in conference play so you are not chasing the group all through October."
