WOMEN'S HOOPS HOSTING VCU WEDNESDAY IN A-10 ACTION

Tip-Off Set for 7 p.m.; Game Will Be Broadcast on TWC SportsChannel

DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton women's basketball team is set to play host to VCU Wednesday in Atlantic 10 action. Tip-off between the Flyers and Rams is set for 7:00 p.m. and the game will be broadcast live on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel.

About the Flyers
Dayton (8-6, 1-2 A-10) started the season 6-1 but have had to reorganize its offense after losing the team's top two leading scorers. The Flyers have dropped five of their last seven games but are looking to newly-returned junior Celeste Edwards for a spark off the bench. Of currently active players, UD is led by sophomore Jenna Burdette with 10.6 ppg. and 3.8 apg. while junior Saicha Grant-Allen grabs a team-best 7.9 rpg.

Scouting VCU
VCU (12-4, 1-2 A-10) had been enjoying a six-game winning streak before dropping two-straight Atlantic 10 contests last week. VCU defeated Massachusetts in its league opener but has since fallen to Saint Louis and Saint Joseph's. The Rams are led Adaeze Alaeze with 11.3 ppg. and Keira Robinson dishes out 4.1 apg. and tallies 1.9 spg.

Last Time Out
Despite leading by 12 points at halftime, Dayton could not hold on for a win over visiting George Washington Sunday as the Flyers fell to the Colonials, 62-61. UD had two opportunities to sink a game-winning shot over the last 13 seconds but could not convert. Junior Celeste Edwards made her return to the court with a team-high 14 points as one of three Flyers in double-figures.

The Series
Dayton and VCU have previously met four times with the Flyers winning all four contests. Most recently, the two squared off on VCU's home court in Richmond, Va., on Jan. 24, 2015. Dayton brought home a 75-56 win.

Flyers in League Play
Dayton has won 55 of its last 63 regular season Atlantic 10 games (.873), a streak that dates back to a 97-46 win over Rhode Island on Jan. 7, 2012, including posting a perfect 14-0 mark in conference play during the 2012-13 season. Of its eight A-10 losses over the last five seasons, Dayton has taken four L's at home and four on the road.

Injury Update
Senior guard Kelley Austria will be out for the remainder of the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in her left knee. Through the first seven games of the season, Austria averaged 10.4 ppg. and 2.6 apg. over 24.1 mpg. for the Flyers. She had made 57 consecutive starts for Dayton through the squad's game at Toledo on Dec. 7 when she sustained the injury. Senior guard Amber Deane sustained a left quad contusion in the Dec. 11 game against Gonzaga and has been sidelined since.

You're Invited to a Block Party
The team's blocks leader for the past three seasons, senior Jodie Cornelie-Sigmundova averages 2.12 blocks per game for her career which ranks 15th among all Division I active players while her career total of 229 blocks ranks ninth nationally among all DI actives. With five blocks at Duquesne on Jan. 3, Cornélie-Sigmundová's career blocks total ranks her FIRST in Dayton program history - surpassing the previous record holder, Michele Kruty (220; 1984-88), and breaking a program record that stood for 28 seasons.

70'S the Magic Number
Since the 2009-10 season, Dayton is 117-11 (.914) when scoring 70 or more points, including 24-2 in 2014-15. During the 2010-11, 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons, the Flyers only lost one game per season when scoring at least 70 points, and dropped only two games in 2009-10 when reaching that mark.
2015-16    6-0
2014-15    24-2
2013-14    19-4
2012-13    21-1
2011-12    13-1
2010-11    15-1
2009-10    19-2
TOTAL    117-11

Three Points of Excellence
Dayton has hit at least one three-point shot in 462 consecutive games dating back to Jan. 2, 2001, the longest streak in the Atlantic 10 Conference and one of the top streaks in the nation. The Flyers made a program-record 15 three-point field goals against Buffalo in the Connecticut World Vision Classic on Nov. 25, 2011. Dayton tied the record with 15 vs. Wright State on Nov. 28, 2012.

1,000 and Counting
With her first made basket in the 2015 Atlantic 10 Championship final, senior Amber Deane became the 23rd member of Dayton's 1,000-point club as only the 10th Flyer to reach that milestone in her third season. She has 1,194 career points, currently ranking 18th all-time.

We've Got an Audience
With a crowd of 10,159 at UD Arena for Dayton's season opener against Yale on Nov. 13, the Flyers currently boast the seventh-most attended game this season. The record crowd was due to the overwhelming success of UD's annual School Day game, a chance for local school-aged children to take a field trip with the Flyers. With a home attendance average of 3,524, Dayton ranks 28th in NCAA DI.

First Half Success = Second Half Victory
Dayton is 6-2 this season when leading at halftime. The Flyers are 2-4 when either trailing at the half or tied at halftime.

20/20 Vision
Dayton reached the 20-wins mark for the eighth-consecutive season with its 59-45 win at Fordham on Feb. 18, 2015. This was the 15th time in the program's 47 seasons that Dayton has reached the 20-win plateau.

Atlantic 10 Format
Despite its name, the Atlantic 10 conference consists of 14 member schools competing under one division in women's basketball. Each team will play a 16-game conference slate this season, including three home-and-away series. Dayton will play two games against Duquesne, George Washington and Saint Louis and one against the remaining field during league action. The conference most recently welcomed Davidson.

Atlantic 10 Preseason Poll
Dayton was picked to finish second in the Atlantic 10 for 2015-16 in voting among league head coaches with two first-place votes and 177 total points. All three of the Flyers' seniors were named to Preseason All-Conference Teams led by Amber Deane who earned mention on the First Team. Kelley Austria was named to the Preseason Second Team while Jodie Cornelie-Sigmundova was named to the Third Team. Both Austria and Cornélie-Sigmundová were also voted onto the All-Defensive Team.

Welcome to the Team
Dayton signed three to National Letters of Intent during the recent early signing period: Jenna Giacone (Delmar N.Y./Bethlehem Central), Jayla Scaife (Muncie, Ind./Muncie Central) and Jordan Wilmoth (Chestnut Ridge, N.Y./Immaculate Heart Academy). The trio will be joining the team in the fall of 2016.

Also Eligible Next Season
The Flyers had two student-athletes transfer in at the beginning of this academic year. Due to NCAA transfer rules, sophomore Alex Harris and junior Madeline Blais are required to spend one season in residence before competing with the team. Harris, a 6-3 forward is originally from Lorain, Ohio, and comes to UD from Penn State while Exeter, New Hampshire, native Blais transferred in from Marist.

Graduation Success Rate
As announced by the NCAA on Nov. 4, Dayton's overall Graduation Success Rate (GSR) of 95 ties UD for the 25th-highest rating in the nation. This year's score of 95 is tied with last year's score for the department's second-highest rate since the inception of the GSR reporting system in 2005.  Over the 11 years the GSR has been compiled, the Flyers have never rated below a 94 and have ranked 27th or better nationally
