DAYTON -- The University of Dayton, 8-2 overall and 6-1 in the Pioneer Football League, plays its final regular season game of 2016 on the road at Marist. The Red Foxes are 5-4 overall, and 5-1 in the PFL. Since both UD and Marist have one league loss, the winner of Saturday's game can finish no worse than second in the league.Â
UD has won six in a row, and is looking to finish with at least nine wins in a season for the 26th time in school history.Â
Last Tuesday, senior linebacker
Christopher Beaschler was named a finalist for the National Football Foundation's Campbell Trophy, sometimes referred to as "the Academic Heisman."Â Beaschler is one of 15 fifth-year Flyers who are part of UD's 22-man senior class.
GOOD NEWS WORTH REPEATING
The Flyers entered the season with the 4th-best winning percentage (.757, 134-43) in FCS football since 2000 AND have produced the most football Academic All-Americans (23) at any level of competition in the same time frame. The top five are Harvard (.805), Montana (.766), North Dakota State (.761), Dayton (.757) and San Diego (.705).
STREAKING
UD has not been shut out in a school-record 453 straight games, the best such active string in all of college football. The last team to shut out the Flyers was Marshall, 9-0, on Oct. 16, 1976. That is also the all-time FCS record.

• Against Stetson, he was nine for 13 passing for 82 yards on a windy day, added another 81 yards on the ground and guided the Flyers to two scores in two chances against the PFL's best red zone defensive team.
• In three quarters of work vs. Valpo, he was 18 of 24 passing for 248 yards with a TD, and ran nine times for 59 yards and three TD's.
• After 10 games, he is 136 of 245 passing (.555) for 1,738 yards, 13 TD's and five picks.

Rick Chamberlin became the second coach in league history to 50 PFL wins.
• The first was his predecessor,
Mike Kelly, who had 55.
• Dayton's next PFL win will tie the two at 55.
MAJOR FACTOR
• Of the 112 players on the UD football team, 57 are enrolled in the School of Business. 30 are in Engineering, and six more are pre-med.
FLYER FAMILYÂ Â Â
• The Flyers have three sets of brothers on the team this season -- Kyle and
Cole Kaparos, Tucker and
Drake Yinger, and twins Matt and
Andy Durkin.
• In addition, five current members of the Flyer football team had relatives who also played for UD in the past.
• They are
Andrew McCormick (Pat, 2006-08),
Luke Welsh (Ben, 2008-12), Tucker and
Drake Yinger (Mitch, 2010,-14) and coach Charley O'Dell (Jack, 2004-07).
