NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – University of Dayton sophomore
Carsten Fisher and freshman
Jordan Benjamin swept the Atlantic 10 Conference Men's Tennis Player and Rookie of the Week awards once again.
The sweep of the men's tennis weekly award is the third of the season for Fisher and Benjamin.
Fisher continued his run of success against Atlantic 10 foe Saint Joseph's, winning his eighth match in a row at No. 2 singles 6-4, 6-4. He also combined with
Zach Berry at No. 1 doubles to win by a 6-4 score. The sophomore from Hilton Head, S.C. native is now 11-0 on the season when playing in the No. 2 singles position, while he and Berry are 11-1 at No. 1 doubles. This is the fourth award for Fisher this season.
Benjamin once again led the Flyers at the No. 1 position this week, taking down the top player of Atlantic 10 foe Saint Joseph's by a 6-1, 6-2 final. The Fairport, N.Y. native also combined with
Lorenzo Rollhauser to take down the Hawks' No. 2 doubles pairing 6-1. It is the fifth honor for Benjamin this year.
The Flyers return to action Friday, March 18 at 7:00 p.m. against Northern Kentucky at the Five Seasons Sports Park.
