DAYTON ADDS ERIK FRAZIER, JR. & TEE OVERMAN TO FB STAFF

Frazier Will Coach WR’s, & Overman Will Oversee LB’s For Defending PFL Champs

DAYTON – University of Dayton football coach Rick Chamberlin has announced that two new coaches – Erik Frazier, Jr. and Tee Overman -- have joined the Flyer football staff.  Frazier will coach the UD wide receivers, while Overman will serve as linebackers coach.

Frazier comes to Dayton after a two-year coaching stint at Delaware Valley University.  He coached wide receivers in 2014 and wide receiver and quarterbacks in 2015.  DVU was 9-2 in both seasons, reaching the NCAA Division III playoffs in 2014 and winning the Centennial-MAC Bowl in 2015.  In 2014, Frazier coached an All-American, Rasheed Bailey, who went on to sign with the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Philadelphia native was a college All-American himself at Kutztown University.  As a senior, he was named a USA College Sports Division II All-American in 2011.  That culminated a senior year that saw him named team captain and help Kutztown win the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championship.  Frazier was a two-time All-PSAC selection and a member of the school's Football Leadership Council as a junior and senior.

He earned his Bachelor's in Sports Management from Kutztown in 2011, and his Master's in Policy Studies from Delaware Valley in January of 2016.

Overman left deep roots in North Carolina to join the Dayton coaching staff.  Hailing from Graham, N.C., Overman played and coached at Wingate University for 13 years.  He was a four-year letterwinner and three-year starter as a defensive tackle at Wingate.  He was named to the school's All-Decade Team for the years from 2000 to 2010.

After his playing days were over, Overman began his coaching career in 2007.  He was a G.A. assisting with the defensive line for the 2007 season and then became the linebacker coach in 2007.  He added the duties of Wingate's recruiting coordinator in 2008, and was named Assistant Defensive Coordinator in 2012.  Wingate was 18th in Division II in scoring defense (18.5 ppg.) in 2015, and ninth in defensive touchdowns allowed (24) in 2014.

He graduated from Wingate in 2007 with a Bachelor's in Business Finance.  He also earned his MBA from Wingate in 2009.

Chamberlin recognizes what these two new additions bring to the Flyer football coaching staff.

"We are excited to have Erik and Tee join our staff," Chamberlin said. "Both were outstanding players in college, and are coming to Dayton with a wealth of knowledge after coaching at very successful programs.  We feel both coaches will fit in well here at UD and will help us win games next season and in the years ahead."

Dayton was 10-2 overall in 2015, making the Flyers' first appearance in the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision playoffs.  UD was the Pioneer Football League co-champions with a 7-1 conference record.  It was the Flyers' 12th PFL crown in the 23-year history of the league.
