DAYTON, Ohio - The Dayton Flyers concluded their 2016 non-traditional season with a 2-1 victory over the Cincinnati Bearcats.
 
After a slow start, Dayton opened the scoring with a calm finish from freshman Kennedy Nwabia. The chance came after the Flyers won back possession high up the field. Sophomore Dillon Nino was then able to pick out Nwabia, who had gotten in behind the Cincinnati defense. The goal sparked Dayton's attack, resulting in a chance for sophomore Michael Brezovsky to double the score shortly thereafter. Brezovsky collected a cross inside the box, but his effort was claimed by Cincinnati's goalkeeper. 
 
Cincinnati leveled the score before halftime off of a direct free kick 22-yards out from goal.
 
Less than a minute into the second half, sophomore Nick Hagenkord scored the eventual game winner. Similar to Nwabia's goal, Hagenkord found himself in behind the Bearcat back line and slotted his shot home.
 
Dayton did well to control the tempo of the game from there, limiting Cincinnati's chances. With just a few minutes left, Michael Frasca scored what he thought was a goal from a well hit half-volley, but it was called back.
 
In the end, the one goal advantage was enough for Dayton to claim the win. 
 
The Flyers ended their spring campaign with a 2-1-1 record overall.
