PHILADELPHIA – The University of Dayton rowing team advanced two boats to the semifinals of the 2016 Dad Vail Regatta held on the Schuylkill River.
 
The Flyer V8+ of Madison Doty (coxswain), Kayla Contardi, Kaleigh Barkaszi, Allie Rogers, Erin Mohney, Chloe Hollinden, Rosie Perez, Sarah Byrd and Danielle Foust took second place in their heat in a time of 7:12.34 to advance to the semifinals.
 
The Novice 8 just missed advancing to the finals, finishing fourth in their heat, edged out by Georgia Tech by six seconds. The top three from each heat advance. The UD Novice 8 was comprised of Sam Borrelli (coxswain), Hannah Butler, Madison Conway, Lucy Williams, Kiley Tempert, Courtney Ware, Taryn Dempsey, Aleah Gazall and Molly Gearin.
 
The Flyer V4+ finished out the day by advancing to the semifinals by qualifying from their time trial. Meghan Garriott (coxswain), Alex Anain, Kristen Hackel, Rebecca McDonald and Rachel Hock make up the UD V4+.
 
The V8+ will race at 7:18 a.m. Saturday in semifinal one and the V4+ will race at 8:06 a.m. in semifinal three. The top two teams advance to the grand final and the next two advance to the petite final.
