DAYTON - The University of Dayton men's soccer team will finish up the 2017 regular season at home Wednesday with a 7 p.m. contest against George Mason at Baujan Field.
SCOUTING THE FLYERS
The Flyers enter the contest with a 8-7-2 record overall and a 5-2 Atlantic 10 mark. Dayton is currently in fourth place in the conference standings and needs a win or a Fordham loss Wednesday to seel a top-four seed and hosting the A-10 quarterfinals match.
Head coach
Dennis Currier is in his 13th season at the helm of the Flyers, totaling 129 victories, the most in UD history. He returns a veteran squad this year with seven seniors, two of the top three goal scorers, and both goalkeepers from last season.
The Flyers are averaging 1.88 goals each game, which ranks 17th in the country. Dayton also leads the A-10 in shots per game and shots on goal per game. UD is 5-2-1 at home this season.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
GEORGE MASON
George Mason heads into its season finale with a 5-8-2 record on the year and a 0-6-1 A-10 mark. The Patriots have lost six straight contests and has gone 1-4-1 away from home. Head coach Greg Andrulis is in his 13th season in charge.
The Patriots are scoring at a rate of 1.53 goals per game and giving up 1.93 to opponents. GMU is being out-shot 10.2 to 14.7 each game. The Patriots also face a cornerkick disadvantage.
Leading the way for the Patriots is Henning Dirks, who is the running for A-10 Player of the Year with a league high nine goals and seven assists. Ryan Mingachos has contributed five goals and three assists as well. Goalkeepers Tomas Lapnas and Corey Chambers have split time in goal with eight games each.
THE SERIES
Dayton and George Mason have played three times previously with the Flyers still looking for their first victory over the Patriots. GMU has won one meeting with the other two games ending in a draw. The last time the two teams faced off was Oct. 14, 2015 with that game finishing in a 1-1 draw. Â
LAST OUTING
Dayton is coming off an important 1-0 win at Duquesne on Saturday, with Navarro scoring the game-winning goal in the 69th minute. The Flyers earned their second consecutive shutout on the road.
George Mason suffered a 4-1 loss at home to Massachusetts Saturday, ending the Patriots hopes of making the postseason. GMU scored a consolation goal int he 86th minute, but two goals in each half by UMass doomed the Patriots.
TANESKI NAMED A-10 OFFENSIVE POW
Sophomore
Rok Taneski was named A-10 Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 23 after totaling three goals and an assist in Dayton's two games the week prior. Up to that point, he ranked second in the A-10 in points, third in goals, and fifth in assists.
FLYER CLASSIC ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM
The Flyers had three players named to the All-Tournament at the Dayton Flyer Classic on Sept. 10. Sophomore goalkeeper

Thor Helgason, and redshirt junior
Nick Hagenkord all received All-Tournament team honors. Liberty won the team title.
SIX ON THE NIGHT
In the win at home against Oakland on Sept. 20, the Flyers scored a season-high six goals in a 6-2 victory. Dayton came out of the locker room at halftime tied 2-2, but scored four goals in the second half to power its way to victory.
The Flyers matched that total with six more goals in a 6-1 win over St. Bonaventure at home on Oct. 14. Fjeldberg had three assists in the game while Navarro had two goals.
DAYTON PICKED TO FINISH 4TH
The Atlantic 10 Conference released its preseason poll and tabbed the Flyers to finish fourth in the league this season. With 122 points, Dayton trailed preseason favorites Fordham (162), Saint Louis (153), and VCU (147). Despite being picked to finish ahead of the likes of Rhode Island, George Washington, and Duquesne, UD didn't have anyone named to the preseason All-Conference squad.
CURRIER'S IMPACT
The head coach of the Flyers has had success at every place he has coached.
Dennis Currier is in his 12th year at Dayton and holds a career record of 317-132-51 in 24 seasons and a 129-83-39 record with the Flyers. His career winning percentage of .690 ranks eighth in the nation amongst active coaches, ahead of programs like Notre Dame, Louisville, UCLA, Xavier, and Virginia.
