TRACK AND FIELD WITH 11 PRs AT AKRON INVITE

Flyers Had 11 Top 5 Finishes in the Two-Day Meet

AKRON, Ohio – The University of Dayton track and field team had more solid performances on the final day of the 13th Annual Akron Invitational. There were 11 Flyer PRs through the two-day meet.

 Coach's Quote
•    "This weekend was a great indicator of where we are as a team. It was great to watch solid performances unfold for some very deserving student athletes," said Sarah Haveman, director of the women's track & field / cross country program at Dayton.

Day Two Highlights
•    Junior Grace McDonald cut nearly four seconds off her PR with her 4:57.65 performance in the Gold Division mile to take first place.
•    Redshirt sophomore Erin Reese won the Blue Division shot put with a mark of 14.29m. Freshman Kris Lindow was third with a mark of 13.69m
•    Sophomore Marie Harla took runner-up in the high jump by clearing 1.60m, a PR for her. Freshman Jamie Rachek also had a PR when she cleared 1.60m and took fifth place.

Day One Highlights
•   Reese took second place in the Gold Division women's discus with a mark of 48.95m. The discus is typically an outdoor event, but Akron's facility allows for an indoor discus competition. Reese's indoor mark of 48.95m broke UD's outdoor record of 48.84m held by Jodi Borges that has stood since 1999.
•    Sophomore Taylor Vernot led the Gold Division 5000m run from start to finish and took first place in a time of 17:21.63.
•    The distance medley relay team of Emily Borchers, Maggie Pryslak, Brittany Fisher and Chloe Flora took second place in a time of 12:03.93 which is the third-fastest time in the Atlantic 10 this season.
