This week's blog highlights our team's academics. I wanted to do a piece on this because we are not just collegiate athletes but student-athletes. Academics are extremely important to our team, our program, and the University.
For this blog I interviewed our team's academic advisor,
Vera Gomes. Vera has been a wonderful resource for our team in terms of helping us to stay on track to graduate (remain eligible), switch majors if need be, creating a plan to keep us up with our homework, and helping us prepare for what we're doing after school. Personally, she has helped me look into getting my MBA, which I will be pursuing after I graduate next fall.
I also asked Vera some questions about the Dayton women's soccer team from an academic standpoint.
Q: What are all of different majors on the Dayton women's soccer team?

Q: What was the team GPA this past fall season/semester?
A: The women's soccer team GPA was a 3.5, which was the 2
nd highest among our 16 athletic teams.

Surprisingly, this wasn't our best team GPA in our program history, but we still accomplished this great feat while also winning the A-10 Championship]
Q: What has your experience been like working with the women's soccer team?
A: I have been impressed with this team because they always do well academically and have had an upward trend over the years. Their GPAs continue to increase while they also are performing well on the field. They have been a self-sufficient team academically and are able to manage their studies and sport well. They are a well-balanced team who exceed academic expectations while winning championships.
