DAYTON – The University of Dayton baseball team jumped all over La Salle pitching on Thursday afternoon, crushing 16 runs on 14 hits en route to a 16-1 victory at Spectrum Stadium.
KEY MOMENT
- Dayton erupted for eight runs in the sixth inning on just two hits, using five walks, a hit batter, and a three-run homer from 
Brantley Johnson to put the game out of reach.
SCORING BREAKDOWN
Bottom 2nd
Dayton gets their bats going in the second, scoring three RBIs on five hits to take a quick 3-0 lead.
Bottom 3rd 
Flyers extend the lead to 5-0 with a two RBI double by Robbie Doring.
Bottom 5th
With three singles and two RBIs in the bottom half, the Flyers push the lead to 7-0.
Bottom 6th
Explorers walk six straight batters to start the inning, bringing home eight more runs for the Flyers thanks to a two RBI single from Poland and three-run homer from Johnson. Dayton leads 15-0.
Bottom 7th
Brandon Smith leads off the inning with a deep shot to center as the Flyers add another run and go up 16-0.
Top 8th 
Explorers get the bats going in the 8th with three hits, including a solo homer to right from McGowan, to bring the score to its final of 16-1.

Kevin Piersol tossed a career-high 7.2 innings and struck out a career-best nine batters, picking up his second win of the season.
- Five Flyers finished the game with multi-hit games, with 
Cale Dineen and 
Brantley Johnson setting the pace with three hits apiece.
- For Johnson, the freshman clubbed his first career home run, a three-run shot, to highlight his performance.
