BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The University of Dayton track team concluded action at the two-day Gladstein Invitational hosted by Indiana University today.
 
 Coach Jason Ordway's Quote
•    "We had a good meet this weekend at Indiana. We were battling some illnesses, but we had people really fight through when we needed them.
 
We did really well in the 5k and had a strong showing, finishing 1-2-3. Taylor Vernot had a really gutsy performance, Emily Leonard posted her best time since her freshman year, and Nicole Steinbicker knocked 25 seconds off her PR. The rest of the distance group ran really well and we had a lot of PRs across the board.
 
The sprints and jumps groups improved upon last meet, and Jamie Racheck, in the high jump, and Leah Frischmann, in the pole vault, especially did well this meet.
 
Our throwers continue to do really well and continue to perform at a high level. They are looking really good going into our next meet.
 
We are feeling good about the team. We're excited about the rest of the season."
 
Highlights
•    The Flyers took the top three spots in the 5000m run, led by junior Taylor Vernot whose time of 17:06.74 is the fourth best all-time at UD. Senior Emily Leonard took second place in 17:17.48 and fellow senior Nicole Steinbicker was third in a PR time of 17:31.83.
•    Senior Jenni Rossi placed third in the shot put and fifth in the weight throw.
•    Sophomore Jamie Rachek had a PR in the high jump, clearing 1.63m.
•    In all, there were eight Flyer PRs.
