DAYTON – The University of Dayton Flyers host the Capital Crusaders in exhibition action on Friday, Nov. 2. It will be the first official men's basketball event at the UD Arena, since Phase II of the three-year Arena Transformation renovation project was completed.
Game time is 7 p.m. ET.
Friday's game will be a coaching matchup of two former Flyer teammates. Dayton coach
Anthony Grant and Capital coach Damon Goodwin were teammates for three seasons at UD, including Dayton's 1984 Elite Eight team. Grant was a Flyer team captain and MVP as a senior, while Goodwin was a class ahead of Grant and is a member of the UD Athletic Hall of Fame.
The game will be carried by WHIO Radio. Live streaming audio and stats will be available at DaytonFlyers.com.
THE TRANSFORMED UD ARENA
The University of Dayton is past the halfway point of a $72 million renovation of its Arena. The transformation of University of Dayton Arena will occur in three phases – from 2017 to 2019.
Phase II included new entrances on three of the four sides, a new box office, new seats in the 300 and 400 levels on the east side and a new and expanded concourse on the east side.
The Arena is an iconic community resource with an economic impact of upwards of $10 million annually. In addition to Flyer men's and women's basketball games, high school tournament games and the NCAA First Four, it is used for competitions such as the Winter Guard International World Championships, entertainment events, large-scale educational seminars and as a staging area for community projects.
UD Arena has been the site of 121 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament games, 38 more than any other tournament host.
